The now completed Workshop/Apartment located just out of Wandering. The structure is constructed from a portal frame machinery shed using straw bale infill walls in lieu of the standard colorbond cladding for a spectacular result. The metal wall cladding was used instead as roof covering to create the shady verandahs. The building features a stylish mix of straw bale infill walls, limestone block around doorways and windows, a small area of rendered brickwork under the window sill, and a beautiful mix of natural timbers. The building houses a workshop and also contains a funky 2-storey 2-bed studio apartment located on the eastern end to capture spectacular sunrise views from the bedroom balcony. If you plan to build your rural lifestyle dream home but need to build in stages, a workshop/apartment is a great place to start. Contact Dave to find out how economical it can be to build your own workshop/apartment as the first stage of your rural lifestyle dream, or even as a weekend escape. Straw bale construction, rendering, brickwork, limestone block and timber all by Dave Morris of Strawtegic Concepts.
